The quick guide

Understand the calculation

A percentage makes a result easier to compare with the maximum marks available.

What is a percentage calculator?

A percentage calculator turns marks obtained into a result out of 100. It can also combine several subjects by adding their obtained marks and maximum marks before calculating one overall percentage.

How the percentage is calculated

For one result, divide the marks obtained by the total marks and multiply by 100. For multiple subjects, the calculator uses the combined totals so subjects with different maximum marks are weighted by their marks.

Formula

Single or combined result

(total marks obtained ÷ total maximum marks) × 100

The same formula works after the subject marks have been added together.

Example

Three subjects

If your subjects total 240 marks out of 300, your percentage is (240 ÷ 300) × 100 = 80%.

Use the result as a clear snapshot

Different schools and institutions may apply their own grading, weighting, or conversion rules. This calculator reports the marks-based percentage from the values you enter; check your course or institution guidance when an official result is required.

FAQ

Can I use decimal marks?

Yes. Decimal marks are accepted as long as they are zero or greater and do not exceed the maximum marks for that row.

What happens when subjects have different maximum marks?

The calculator adds obtained marks and maximum marks, then calculates one combined percentage. This keeps each subject’s contribution proportional to its available marks.

Can I remove a subject?

Yes. In Option B, use Remove on a row you no longer need. At least one subject row remains so there is always a place to start.
